Marathon

How does OuiRace work?
What happens when I register for a race?
When you register for an OuiRace race, here's what happens:
- Instant confirmation: You receive a confirmation email and can see the race in your OuiRace profile. All race information is available in the app.
- On race day: You run where you want, when you want! Record your race with your smartwatch (Garmin), the OuiRace app, or Strava. You have complete freedom to choose your route and timing.
- Real-time ranking: As soon as your race is recorded and synced, you get your real-time ranking. You can see your position relative to other participants, filter by category, and track your progress in the standings.
- After the race: Once the distance is completed and validated, you automatically receive your free digital medal in your profile. Some races also offer an optional physical wooden medal (crafted in Burg by Ludo) that you can add for an extra fee at checkout — availability depends on the race organizer, so not every race includes one.
What is an OuiRace connected race?
An OuiRace connected race is a sporting event you can complete from anywhere in the world, at your own pace. Thanks to the OuiRace mobile app, you track your route in real-time, receive your free digital medal once the distance is completed, and become part of a global community of runners. When the organizer offers it, you can also add an optional physical wooden medal (crafted in Burg by Ludo) for an extra fee at checkout — it is not included in every race.
You can record your races directly with the OuiRace app, or sync your data from your smartwatch (Garmin) or Strava app. OuiRace integrates seamlessly with your favorite tracking tools for a smooth and complete experience.
How does GPS tracking work during the race?
The OuiRace app uses your smartphone's GPS to track your route in real-time. Once you start the race in the app, it automatically records your position, speed, distance covered, and time. You can see your progress live on the app's map.
You can also use your smartwatch (Garmin) or Strava. Just connect your account before you run — then, after your activity, your data syncs to OuiRace automatically and your participation is validated. (Activities recorded before connecting are not imported.)
Can I use my smartwatch or Strava to record my race?
Absolutely! OuiRace integrates seamlessly with major activity tracking platforms. You can:
- Record your race directly with the OuiRace app
- Use your smartwatch (Garmin) and sync your data
- Connect your Strava account first, then record your runs with Strava — they sync to OuiRace automatically
Once your race is recorded, OuiRace automatically validates your participation and unlocks your digital medal. You don't need to change your training habits!
Can I run anywhere and anytime?
Absolutely! This is one of the major advantages of OuiRace connected races. You choose your route (park, road, trail, etc.) and your timing (morning, afternoon, evening). The only condition is to complete the total distance of the race you selected. You can even do multiple sessions if needed, the app automatically adds up your distances.
Is there a real-time ranking?
Yes! OuiRace offers real-time rankings where you can see your position relative to other participants. You can filter by distance, age category, or view the overall ranking. It's a great way to stay motivated and challenge yourself!
What happens if I don't have internet connection during my race?
No problem! The OuiRace app works in offline mode. It records your route locally on your phone and automatically syncs the data as soon as you regain connection. Your data will never be lost.
Can I participate with a group of friends?
Of course! OuiRace encourages group participation. You can create or join teams, follow your friends' performances, and encourage each other. It's a great way to stay motivated and share your passion for running.
Is the OuiRace app free?
Yes, the OuiRace app is completely free to download and use. You only pay for the races you want to participate in. The app allows you to browse all available races, track your personal stats, and join the community at no cost.
Why participate in an OuiRace race?
Participating in an OuiRace race offers many benefits for runners:
- 🌍 Participate from anywhere
- 💻 Modern digital experience
- 📱 Share your achievements
- 🌱 Help the environment
How does OuiRace's fair ranking system work?
At OuiRace, we guarantee fair rankings thanks to our race conditions adjustment algorithm:
- ✓ Temperature, wind, humidity, altitude: all these factors are taken into account to adjust times
- ✓ GPS-validated route: No cheating, only real performances
- ✓ Complete transparency: Each participant sees how their time is adjusted
This system ensures that all participants, no matter where and when they run, are evaluated fairly and equitably.
Do I need to connect Strava or Garmin before my run?
Yes — connect first. OuiRace only imports activities recorded after you connect your Strava or Garmin account. Activities done before connecting are not imported automatically, so connect your account (My Profile > Apps & Devices) before you head out.
Already ran before connecting? You can still record the activity directly in the OuiRace app, or contact support with your activity's GPX file so we can validate your participation.
